Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

"We need to leave..." Looking down at her mommy, she crouched down and gently removed the necklace around her neck. Something to remind her of her mommy forever.

Moving to the vent, she crawled in and waited for Drake. Once they were both safely inside, she closed her eyes and let her mind go wild in the room. The tendrils lashed out at everything, knocking books from their shelves, shattering vases on the surface of the wooden desk, even the chair began slamming itself against the desk angrily before moving on to crash through the bookshelves. Nothing came within a foot of her mommy's body - she made sure of that.

When the guard came in, yelling for backup, the chair smashed into him mercilessly. His words caught in his throat as he flew back into the door, slamming it shut again. Once the room was a complete mess, she felt satisfied and turned and crawled back out to the entrance of the house. The dogs were nowhere near; she guessed they'd heard the commotion inside and were scratching at the back door, trying their damndest to get in to save their Master. Without a look back, Isabel took off across the small lawn, squeezed through the hole in the gate and finally stopped across the street behind a barrel. She stared at the house with a solemn expression on her young face. The next time she would see this place would be the last... It would be the time Master died and his little slave world crumbled out of his dead, cold hands.
Wash: I think they really captured his essence.
Kaylee: He looks kinda mean.
Wash: That's sorta what I meant.
Simon: This must be what going mad feels like.
Kaylee: Everywhere I go, his eyes keep followin' me...

He put a hand on her shoulder, and sighed

"I'm sorry, isabel... I know how you feel. My mother died when I was your age too.... I just wish I could ha- Crap!"

He pushed her behind a corner as a guard ran out of ther front door, looking around, and just caught a glimpse of her. He started to yell, but before he could make a sound, Drake had slipped a small, thin knife out of his sleeve and threw it. The blade slammed into the guard's throat, and he stumbled back, gasping. Drake sheathed his other knife, and led Isabel away, quickly.

"Don't look back, Isabel... Over here."

He turned down a side street, and pushed a cover off another aquaduct entrance"

"Down, and hurry..."

She nodded, her head hanging down at her chest as she tried to comprehend everything that had just happened. It had all happened so quickly. Drake's shouting made her head jerk up and she saw the guard and knew he'd seen them.

She just barely saw the glint of steel in Drake's hand before she saw the knife sticking out of the guard's throat. She gasped and turned away quickly. She'd never seen anyone killed like that before and it scared her.

Drake's hand wrapped around hers and he pulled her off in some direction. She didn't notice where they were going until he opened a hole in the ground. Instinctively, she jumped down, not hearing his words. Once in the aqueduct, she looked right and left. To the right was the area connected to the Master's house. "Left," she murmured and, grabbing Drake's hand, took off, slowing up some after a few seconds so that he could lead.

He leapt down, and covered the hole, then ran after her. She was already learning the way around down here, wasn't she...? He was glad... but he couldnt bring himself to smile, not really. When they had gone a ways, he tapped her shoulder and walked down another path, which led to their 'home' at the small pipe. he brought her down, and lit the lamps, then got a cup and got some water from the freshwater canal that ran along the side. he took a drink, then handed it to her.

"Here. Running always makes me thirsty."

He walked back to the bag of food, and got some more cheese and a melon about the size of his head. He took the knife he had left, the one he usually didnt kill with - he didnt want that knife to have blood on it. He split it in half, and gave her half of it, managing a faint smile.

"here... Messy, but good. I hardly ever get my hands on these..."

he was going to save it... but he thought she might need something to take her mind off it. He sat next to her, and bit into his, carful not to get the juice all over the place, though it was kinda inevitable...

She ran the whole way with her eyes closed. She simply refused to open them. If she was going to go back there anytime soon, she had to train. And train she would. When Drake took the lead, she followed the sounds of his footsteps and kept one of her mind's tendrils connected to him at all times.

They reached home and she took a deep breath. Her eyes remained closed as she took the cup from Drake and took a long drink. The water cooled her burning throat. She had forgotten all about drinking throughout yesterday and today, so the water was hungrily accepted. Taking another drink, she moved to where Drake was now and sat next to him and sat the cup down next to her.

She accepted the melon and examined it with her mind. The Master had eaten these all the time, but he'd never given any to the slaves. She wrinkled her nose as she attempted to figure out how to eat it without getting the juice all over herself. Not that it really mattered, as she was already filthy.

With one of her mind's tendrils, she pushed down on the fruit inside the rine. She smiled faintly as it sliced through the juicy center. Removing the piece she'd just cut, she lifted it to her mouth without lifting a finger and ate it. It was delicious! So juicy and cool, it slid down her throat easily. "Yummy..."

He smiled, and ate part of his, then gave her the rest

"Here. We can always get another."

He ate some of the cheese instead, mostly in silence. What did you say when a little girl's mother dies right in front of her? he had cried for what seemed like days until his father started hitting him and his sister... no one but Kayla had tried to help, and after father had come... he had cut her throat. She never spoke again, until the infection... He shook his head a little bit, and wiped the juice off his chin with a white cloth, then gave it to Isabel.

"here... you'r face is a mess..."

He wiped her face a little, but just smeared some of the dirt around, and he had to crack a smile

"Messy messy..."

Actually laughing just a little, he knew he was just as bad..."

She had just finished her portion of the melon when Drake handed her the rest of his. She smiled faintly at his kind gesture and took the melon. Not wanting to be selfish, she began to cut out a large portion for Drake. Before she could float it over to him, he leaned over and wiped her face off a bit.

She couldn't help but hold back a smile at his words. Opening her eyes for a moment, she saw his smile and smiled wider herself. It was the kind of smile that she could get used to seeing everyday. It wasn't like the Master's smile - full of greed and malice. This smile was genuine - full of kindness, actual joy, actual emotion.

Once he finished wiping her face, she floated the portion of melon over to him. "I can't eat all that," she lied with a smile. "Too much melon." Grabbing the hunk of cheese, she broke off a piece and set it in her lap for when she was done with the rest of her section of melon before closing her eyes.

After a few moments of silene, she opened her eyes again and looked to Drake. "Thank you..."

He nodded, and ate the piece she gave him, still trying not to laugh.

"Thanks... You're really getting good with that, you know? You'll be one heck of a force when you're older..."

He waited for her to finish her food, and he had finished his, then he wiped his face a little and put the cloth away. What was to happen now? She was certainly all he had... and he had a feeling that now, she same held true for her. But maybe that was how it supposed to go...? Was there a purpose to any of it..? His mother told him that everything happened for a reason. It had been years since he had believed that... but with Isabel, and how he had loved her so quickly...

"And I'll be there to see it. I'll never leave your side, I promise. If you want me to, that is... whatever happens now is up to you..."

He smiled softly, and lay back on an overstuffed pillow, yawning slightly.

A light blush crept onto her cheeks. "I've just been focusing a lot more than I used to with Mommy." She smiled over at him as she finished nibbling her cheese. Bringing the cup with the fresh water up to her lips, she drank some more.

"Of course you'll be there. Why wouldn't you?" she asked, furrowing her brow. "Well, I hope you will... Mommy always said that things always happen for a reason. So she died... I just don't know why... yet..."

Closing her eyes, she sat cross-legged, focusing on herself and everything around her. Every free moment of her life, she would devote to training. She WOULD be quite the force to be reckoned with... before her seventh birthday if she had anything to do with it. That was only a month away, but she didn't care.

All of her mind's tendrils flew to the pillow that Drake had just laid back on. She'd never picked up anything heavier than a chair, so this could be awkward. She focused as much as possible on lifting and opened her eyes. She grinned. There he was - Drake - the floating boy wonder!

He nodded a little bit, thinking.

"My mom said that too... and I wish i knew what the reason was for her death, too."

He closed his eyes and leaned his head back, so the first hint he had was an odd pressure along most of his body, and his clothing hanging a bit looser than it should have if he was on the ground. He opened his eyes, and nearly freaked, but instead he just jumped a bit - well, he made a startled motion, he was kind of in her power too much to jump. He laughed though, and looked over at her.

"Nice one, but next time maybe let me know before you levitate me..."

He tried to reach and touch her, but just brushed her shoulder and rolled, laughing.

"Yikes!"
