Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Alain listened carefully, and was actually rather astonished. Most of it sounded like some kind of fairy tale -

Alain, you've got to stop thinking like that...

Dammit suchara I know full well this is real, stop that.

Stop what, dear?

Barging in on my thoughts like that.

I can't help it, I'm in your head after all... do you really dislike me being there so much?

Alain sighed a little bit and ran his hand gently along her length.

No, Suchara, I don't... it just takes getting used to.

Alain could have sworn he felt her lean her head on his shoulder, but he knew she wasnt really there, and she was quiet, so he looked over to Sabre.

"You're doing fine, actually... the only question I have is this - how can you be related to a dragon? The mechanics of that seem... well... difficult..."

"Quite simply. My uncle's father - would that make him my great-uncle? Ugh, know I know why I don't bother with those details... Anyways... He's a demi-god and so is his brother, who is Bloodweaver's father. Huge family tree - everyone's got a secret or two or three. Mine you already know, but I'll not tell you anyone else's."

~That would mean you knew their secrets.~

~I do know some of their secrets you know-it-all little sword!~ Sabre scowled mentally at Althea, though she knew the blade was right. If only she would shut up for five minutes!

"So yes... In short, my family tree is full of twists, turns, dead ends and a whole hell of a lot of confusion. What's yours like? You say you fight for them and protect them? Are they truly loyal enough to you that you would sacrifice your life for them?" She was intrigued. The only family member she'd ever become truly close to was her uncle... and then even he had drifted away from her somewhat. 'Damne that sword!' she thought to herself, bringing her eyes back up from her teacup to watch as Alain responded to her question.
Wash: I think they really captured his essence.
Kaylee: He looks kinda mean.
Wash: That's sorta what I meant.
Simon: This must be what going mad feels like.

OOC: Where've you been, Sabre?

IC:
"Wow... powerful but discordant, I suppose..."

He thought for a moment feeling that Suchara was just as interested in hearing this as Sabre was, which didn't surprise him, she only had acess to his top level of thought - for which he was thankful. Not that he didnt trust her... well he did wonder, just a little. Had just met her after all...

"I'd die for any of them in a heartbeat... I don't have any distant relatives like you have in abundance. Most of my family lived in a city called Berlin. My mother and father moved to New Detroit when they had ther first children - myself, and my twin sister Althea. Berlin... was almost completely destroyed two years later in a massive attack... my extended family all died before I was old enough to know them."

Suchara felt like she was going to say something, but he shook his head a little and she waited.

"At any rate... I have a large enough immediate family to make up for it. There's Althea, then our next youngest brother David, he's 18 now, my sister Violet, who's sixteen, then another set of twins, they're identical, Irie and Kirsten, both ten, and then my youngest sister Alia who's six and my youngest brother, Jack. He's five. My parents... they died in another attack three years ago. Althea and I have been raising the others ever since then... there's a lot of us, but we're all very close, even though things are awfully tight. Althea and I are the only ones that can really work and she spends most of her time taking care of the little ones, David is going to college now to become a scientist, hopefully support us all once he gets out... I'd die to make sure they all had enough to eat. In a way, I very nearly did... I just wound up here instead..."

OOC: Ok!!! Im back for a good long time every one, so lets get GOING!!!

IC:

Gwenefiere, after laying her unconcious friend to rest, entered her own room, looking for something more suitable to wear than the garments she wore to mass. WIthin her wardrob, she found her favorite dress, which she lay across the bed, while she washed her face. SHe thought about all the things that seemed so sudden and obscure at the moment, but knew the true importance of it all. Something was happening and in her mortal frame of mind, she had a hard time conceiving the thoughts. It was stupid to dwell on it now though and she turned to dress.

The crimson velvet of the dress caressed her skin, and accented her lustrious onyx hair. She was beautiful, but did not acknowledge the fact, as there were things much more important to worry about than her appearance. First off she would check on Victoria, to be sure she was alright, then find Sabre and her new friend, Alain. It still puzzled her why the creature had been attacking, but she was sure that the woman would tell her. Moving through the entry of her room, she made a left and down the corridor to the Priestesses room. She found the door slightly ajar, which sent a shiver through her body. Had she not closed the door? Through all the confusion, she must have forgotten. It reminded her that she must retrieve her dagger before she left. The door swung open easily on its finely oiled hinges, giving no squeak of protest. The drapes had been drawn, but a breeze came through the open door of the balcony. The thin material billowed and leaped in a fanciful way, reminding her of the child hood she spent in that very room.

Victoria lay in her poster bed, which set just about in the center of her room. She looked almost peaceful, but a crease shadowed her forehead. Sitting, Gwen pushed a strand of hair from Victoria's face.

"It has been too long my sister..." Her voice was soft and low, but she knew it would be heard subconciously by the woman. Gwenefiere stood though and headed out the door. It was a quick trip down stairs, where she stopped one of the weregaurds to ask where to find Sabre. SHe hoped that the fire-cracker was in a diplomatic mood, as she flared up sometimes, and with good reason. A smile teased her lips, making the gaurd smile in return. He bowed and listened.

"Have you seen Lady Sabre? And is the Stranger with her?" Newcomers were always called Stranger, it was the way of the wolves.

" Yes, Sire, and she is at the shop. Would you like me to escort you there?" The werewolves were pleasent enough, but it would be unwise to cross them. Long claws jutted from his paw li fingers, and the points of perfect canine teeth could be seen below his lips.

"No I should be fine. But I noticed that there are no guards at Victoria's room, and I know that one of us told three of them to stay and keep watch. Will you check up on them?" He nodded and turned toward the stairs.

Once outside, the queen strode down the enormous flight of steps and into the East gardens. A wide path led her out and around the temple. From here, she followed Majestic square to the end and to the front door of Sabre's shop. It was absolutly adorable, as she figured it to be. Knocking lightly, she waited for an awnser.

Sabre was getting ready to reply to Alain when she heard a faint knocking at the door. Looking to the wolves standing guard behind her, she questioned them silently. The "Closed" sign was up, so no one should be coming to her shop to buy things. Motioning to one of the guards, he grabbed hold of the blonde boy who'd been sitting quietly in a chair throughout the entire conversation and led him upstairs. As soon as she heard the lock click, she made her way across the room to the front door.

Looking out the window, she saw not a possible customer, not a possible slave owner in search of a runaway, but the Queen herself! And she was without an escort. Sending a slight glare to one of the wolves, she unlocked the door and quickly ushered the Queen in, taking a good look around outside to make sure no one had followed her.

"Majesty, what brings you here? And without an escort?" Her eyes moved to the wolves again and one responded with a slight growl. She furrowed her brows as she led the Queen over to the seat Michi had been sitting in moments ago. "Are you okay, Majesty? And Victoria... how is she?"

Knowing she was slightly flustered already, Sabre took in a deep breath and returned to the front counter. She grabbed another tea cup before returning to the sitting area and pouring a cup. "I was just speaking to Alain. We were getting acquainted with each other," she said with a smile. Her voice was back to its normal, calm, silky tone instead of the urgent, worried tone she'd had when she'd first bade the Queen enter her shop.

OOC: Sorry I didn't post for a few days, guys. Was doin' some make-up work for school and then spending a nice, relaxing weekend with my hunny. :D Now that all of my make-up work is done, I'll be able to continue RPing more, erhm... often! Haha! WoW. Couldn't remember that word. God, it's been a long day. And now, I'm off to the bank! WooT! See ya's laterz!!!!!! ^_^

Alain looked up at the knocking, and as Sabre stood, he looked back towards the door. Somehow, he knew who it was already, without even seeing.

"Gwen..."

He shook his head a little bit, putting a hand to his temple. She... she had come here? Suchara sounded impressed when the door was opened, and sure enough, there was the queen.

Wow. How'd you do that?

Honestly? I don't have a clue...

Suchara giggled a little bit, softly, and Alain stood, holding the blade at his side, and then he bowed, smiling.

"It's good to see you again, Gw-Highness."

Should really start remembering to call her that... as familiar as she somehow seemed to him, against all the logic he could find, she had rank and title here. Extremely high rank and title, actually... her lock of hair seemed warm against his chest, and he couldnt help but smile a little bit.

ooc: sorry thats so short, lol...

Stepping through the cutely designed doorway, Gwenefiere smiled at Alain. Seeing him was, for some odd reason, like a drink of cold water on a hot day. Sabre, she also noticed, was Very worked up, which concerned Gwen. It was not very often to see the woman out of composure, but she could understand fully why. They had afterall had a very alarming expierence a few hours earlier. Stepping to the table, Gwenefiere sat, and admired the fine work of the piece of furniature.

" Yes, I checked on Victoria...She had no guards at the door...I was very concerned. I Asked One of the guards downstairs where you had gone to, and he said you may be here." She sighed and smiled a little at Alain. It was a good thing, he had met up with the woman, or he may have gotten lost. Ombra di Notta was afterall a large city. " I also told the same guard that he should send a disbatch up to the room." Her brow furrowed a little.

"Do you think the creature could have some kind of control over the guards? Because I felt a shock in the Oourze ( The enchantment that kept harmful magick out of the city, all except the castle and prison.) I think it may be getting weak...It has been over eight thousand years since it was preformed." This forced a deep cleave in her forehead, showing only a tiny percentage of her age. "Victoria, I believe is alright for now, but there is something going on!"

Gwenefiere addressed both of them, allowing the true importance of what she was telling them, to show. Seeing Sabre pouring tea, she stood and stepped to the woman.

"Where are your teacups dear?" She smiled, admireing the woman. She had known her for what seemed like her whole live. She was quick and smart, and Gwenefiere was glad that Sabre was on her side.

"Damne them. When I left, I told them to go straight to where you and Victoria were at least an hour ago. I assume they'll be reprimanded in some way for not doing as they were told?" Her eyes glanced from the Queen to the largest wolf, now currently hovering behind the Queen protectively. As if he had anything to worry about here. Although...

"The magic of what I believe to be the creature we fought in the dungeons seeped through somehow. I don't understand how that's possible. The Oourze has never failed in all the years I've been here. Perhaps an inside job?" As her mind pondered over the many ideas blurring through it, she blinked and smiled to the Queen. "Why, this cup is for you, Majesty."

Handing the small cup, now filled with hot water and a few tea leaves, to the Queen, she bowed her head slightly.

"I'm glad to hear that the Priestess is alright for now. I'd like to check up on her at some point if that's okay with you, Majesty. I've a bit of healing magic up my sleeve, though I think we'd better speak before I try any of it on the lady." Motioning for the Queen to take a seat once again, Sabre moved across the small book area, her eyes browsing the shelves idly.

'An inside job...' she thought to herself.

~Who would be capable, though?~ she heard Althea murmuring to herself. Althea was bright. If Sabre couldn't come up with an answer, perhaps she could. As for Virote, well, he was better at keeping Althea and herself out of harm's way than thinking through complicated issues. Snapping her head up, Sabre looked quickly to the Queen, her violet eyes flashing.

"Does Victoria have enough power to overrule the Oourze? She is the High Priestess, after all, second in command only to you, Majesty." Frowning to herself, she shook her head. Victoria was not an evil person. There was no way she could have controlled something as hell bent as the creature currently locked away in the dungeon.

"Nexus..." she murmured to the books as her head returned to look away from the Queen and Alain, her voice barely audible even to herself. She'd only met the man once in all her time here at Ombra di Notta, but perhaps... just perhaps. "Whatever happened to the High Priest of Ombra di Notta?" Sabre asked finally, her voice loud and clear now, her chin held high as she returned her gaze to the rest of the room.

[SIZE=1][SIZE=1]Nexus! Of course! how could she have forgotten, but she remembered that she had forgotten everything upon her return. The memories came though and she allowed them. He was a different sort of person but likeable. He had his darkside though that would explain something like this. Gwenefiere moved to the table and set down her tea. Adding a tiny bit of cinnamon, she stirred the elixer then lifted it to her lips and sipped. But why now? when things were getting back on track? It made perfect sense.

"Maybe that is why the creature is here. or is in some way related, but maybe not. Maybe Nexus used the opportunity to play around with us." She pondered the thought, but did not sit. Putting the cup once more on the table, she movd to a place where there was room to pace.

"I think he wants something from me...Or he wouldn't have come around now..." Something struck her funny. "How did I die Sabre?" Her voice faltered, as mortal emotions often cause such. She stood, her mind racing so fast that she came up with twelve conclusions in the matter of a second. None of which she felt were right.

Turning to Alain, she thought about his appearance in the world at about the same time as her. Maybe it was his technology. Maybe Nexus wanted Alain, for some experimental reason. She was not sure, but she would not let it happen.

"Alain, what were the names of the men who were fighting you when you crossed?" She was sure that this would explain it all. Maybe it had been Nexus who had drove Alain through, but she doubted it. " Never mind that. Sabre, where is the Matter sword that I brought to you when I saw you last." Gwenefiere Knew and understood the woman's joy in her knives, and would always trust her with a spirited blade. "I think that is what he wants...Did I ever tell you of it's purpose?" Standing in the center of the room, Gwenefiere wrung her hands, looking exhausted and bewildered. She had never told anyone of it's purpose, as it was one of the few things she regretted creating.

Alain sat and sipped his tea, occasionally he and Suchara would talk a little bit, but really he understood little of what was going on, though he was starting to piece things together.

"This Oourze... it is like a barrier? We have those on my world, though I'm sure generated by very different means... however if the physics are the same, and I see no reason why they shouldn't be, any non-material barrier can be disrupted by a perpendicular energy source, we call it standing wave pattern interference (Actual physics ^_^). Perhaps your barrier was disrupted by a massive power surge of some kind that happened to be on the right - or in this case wrong - wave frequency?"

He hoped he hadn't just made himself look like an idiot, but it made sense to him. Telepathy was proven six years ago to be the product of particle wave radiation, the same as laser beams, or light, or magnetic fields, it was simply created and directed by the brain. They were still working on the how, but like many things in his world, implementation came before understanding. The trick, they had learned, was not to get TOO far ahead of onesself. Suchara cut in then, speaking in all of their minds.

Alain, you're talking nonsense.

"I am not!"

Mmhmm. And by the way, greetings, you majesty.

Alain shook his head a little, and tapped the sword that was across his lap.

"This is Suchara, Sabre gave her to me."

The sword did kind of a mental bow, and he shook his head, again listening to what they said. Die...? Gwen... died? By the gods... but then he was'nt exactly surprised... or was he? Gwen's question brought him out of his thoughts.

"Well... I don't know. It's a war, a massive, terrible war, I've never known the names of any of the creatures I've been fighting, warped as they have been by their gene splicing, we doubt even that they remain sentient enough to even have a name."

He shrugged his shoulder slightly, then looked up.

"We were returning from a particularly brutal patrol, we lost two of our people, which is terrible when your army is as small as ours is - there arent many of us, see, overpopulation of humans is one thing that nearly destroyed our world originally. So we were bringing the bodies back to Avalon, which in my world is one of our three massive floating cities, which we use mainly for mobile military bases now, and we had just landed... when more of them attacked. I don't know how they got there, they probably found some way to follow our Phoenix - that's a kind of airplane... well a machine that flies very very fast. Anyway we landed and we were trying to get our wounded inside when they attacked us again... and one of them got it's hands on one of our Sterilizer weapons. They're... they contain a small amount of what we call antimatter, it's... the precise opposite of ordinary matter. And when antimatter touches regular matter... well they destroy each other completely. Even in small amounts the energy released is titanic, enough to destroy a small city."

He didn't mention that he had two of the tiny bombs on his suit - they weren't dangerous, only his precise mental pattern could activate them, and if they were broken somehow the suit would expend almost its entire energy supply creating a dampening field to stop the detonation. They were nearly impossible to break, anyway.

"But... they did something else. Somehow they infected the pilot, or one of their larva got into his head, we've seen it happen, and they managed to activate the sterilizer. I had to get it away from the city, but the shields had been raised as soon as the enemies were detected to stop any more of them from getting in, but it works both ways - they couldnt get in and I couldn't get the bomb out. So I took it back from them, and tried to use my power to slip it through by creating a slight fluctuation in the barrier with my suit's own generators... I didn't make it. The bomb was trapped halfway through when it went off. Next thing I knew, I landed smack in the middle of a city full of very bigoted elves. I killed the splicers that made it through as well, but the elves chased me out of their city - literally - anyway. A month later, I stumbled on the temple..."

He looked up to gwen and smiled just slightly.

"And you know the rest..."
