OOC: *is very angry because she had it all typed out and then accidentally hit "ctl+z"* *is actually very sad...* *cries* *mopes IC*: She smirked at Suchara's comment. "Sure..." she breathed, sarcasm still slightly evident in her quiet voice. She leaned back in her chair with a smile on her face and watched Alain begin to get used to his new friend. "Yes, that makes sense. It's just that, well... Some people are, how can I put this nicely? Oh, I can't. Some people are just dumb," she grinned. "Yes, she is right. One thing you must promise me, though... You must not to fight in real combat until after I can help train you in properly weilding a sentient weapon. Even if you were a master swordsman, I'd make you train. With Suchara in your hands, the fight will be completely different and can be, at first, slightly jarring." ~I'm sure you can imagine Sabre's problems when she took on both Virote and I at the same time.~ Althea chuckled. ~Good thing for the Regent and Soulburner...~ ~Quiet, you~ Sabre's mind snapped back sternly at her sword, making sure to keep her thoughts solely directed at Althea. Rolling her eyes, she smiled over at Alain. "Althea wishes she belonged to a bard, so that she could tell her stories whenever she wants." |

ooc: yikes, that really bites... ic: Alain lowered suchara, and she whispered to him, exasperated. She really doesn't like me. Sounds like you gave her a reason. Oh, thanks, some friend youre turning out to be. You have no troble making fun of me, I think honesty is being rather fair about all of it. Granted... He laughed a little, and nodded. "Yes, I have met quite a few stupid people... And I promise. I'll make do with my sidearm and the armor. Should be enough, anyways." Oh, so I'm useless? Did I say that? You implied. Stop pretending to be so sensitive. You know, that hurts too. Uh huh. That hadn't been whispered though, and alain chuckled as he sat back down, laying the blade across his lap, and nodded over to althea. "Sounds like a story I'll have to hear one of these days, hm" He laughed, and shook his head a little bit. "But where will I keep her? I don't have a sh-" I have one. Alain blinked and looked down at her, puzzled, just as the hilt began to glow. Black tendrils snaked out from the pommel, and a couple silver ones, and wrapped themselves around the blade, working their way up to the tip and tightening into a hardened case, black and inlaid with silver, just like her hilt. Alain raised his eyebrows. "That's neat." Thank you. He could feel her smile |

"I was thinking we could start your training today. At least get the basics down so that you don't need to walk around in that clunking machine you call armor. I'm sure that would make Suchara happy." She chuckled and turned. The wolves were still there. 'The jail?... Shit...' she thought to herself as she received the message from the one closest to her. Her face held only a smile, of course. She'd learned over the years to hide her true emotions, both physical and mental. "The Queen will not be available for a day or so. You'll be welcome here, of course, or in one of the guest suites at the castle. Whichever you choose, I'd be happy to show you around." The wereguard growled mentally at her again. She noticed it wasn't just the one, though - they had all just growled. Sabre swore again, mentally. She could feel Virote, Althea and Suchara all humming with more power than normal. Something wasn't right with the magic... and she had a feeling it had to do with the one who'd been speaking to her mentally from the jail. How they'd done it, though, she wasn't sure, as those cells were the most powerful barriers to any magic or psychic powers in the city. Gwenefiere herself had created them, with the help of Victoria and another... a male she did not know. She sent a mental message to the wolves standing guard in the great hall. They would pass the message on to the Queen, along with the rest of the guards in the city. For now, however, she smiled to Alain, hiding her fear of what was going on in the jail. |

"Clunking? Not only is that armor not clunky in the least, that's hands down the most advanced weapons system on this planet. Not... that that says much... You've just never seen me in any real cmbat wearing it..." What, don't want to use me? "Even if I was wielding you, suchara, I'd likely wear my armor... I'e fought in that thing for six years now. Besides, it's not the sort of thing I want to leave lying around..." He shook his head a little bit. He had been through hell and back wearing that armor... if you looked close enough you could see scars on it, slightly lighter patches of metal where the metal has been scarred by attacks. Plus... the armor was all he had left of his home, and the power cell would last for a hundred years at least, as long as he could keep it supplied, and all he needed for that was water. This world was starting to feel friendlier, but still... he felt naked on this planet without his Advent. While he was musing, he felt something from Suchara, and the other two as well, a split second before he felt it himself, and looked towards the castle. When Sabre smiled, though, he frowned. "You're going to have to stop assuming I'm so ignorant. I caught that too, don't pretend you didn't, either. I'd rather be honest with one another here..." Suchara supressed a laugh - Alain was a bit more perceptive than she had originally thought. |

She sighed. "I didn't mean it like that, Alain." She frowned. "When I said 'clunking', I should have said 'bulky'. I don't know if you're noticed or not, but it's huge. You're already large enough, the armor makes you look like your mother was a giant. A metallic giant - which doesn't exist, by the way - but a giant nonetheless. It makes you stick out like a sore thumb, and not in a good way." She was being harsh, she knew, but it was the truth. "You want the truth? Well, here it is. Suchara is not just some sword. She is so much more. I looked at that armor and it doesn't look like it breathes well. Your movement would be too hindered for you to weild Suchara properly. Even if you learned to fight completely in synch with her, that armor would hold her back. Your six year streak of fighting success would be over in the first fight against anyone with even some minute arcane powers." If her face wasn't ebony, as it was, you would see her cheeks flushed now. "Now don't get mad at me... You have to understand that I'm not used to sharing anything with anyone save these two," she motioned to Althea and Virote, "the Queen, the Priestess and the wereguards." She sighed and leaned back in her chair, rubbing the bridge of her nose with one hand slowly. "Look - I don't know what's going on right now in the jail... But I know there's nothing I can do to stop it. Only the Queen can help, I fear. Oh, I don't know why I do this... I'm not good with explaining things to people. Hence the isolation from the world." Standing, Sabre turned from the reading area and over to the stairs. She moved up them, her posture still royal and proud as ever. She stopped once, very briefly, touched her temple and then kept going. |

"Stand out, yes... but I don't think you really understand what that armor really is... nonetheless, this isn't a discussion I can convince you with, you've never seen a lightbulb, much less any of the systems in that armor..." It wasn't as bulky as it seemed at first. Movements were as fluid as they were outside, sometimes he even forgot he was encased in it, the inner layer matched his body temperature so perfectly. In the armor he was faster, stronger, his powers were tripled or more even... "Still, I understand the danger in relying on it. If I were attacked right now, I wouldn't be able to get to it. We lose a lot of people in sneak attacks because of that..." He shook his head at the memory, one of his best friends being ripped in two by a monster's enourmous claws as he fired his sidearm at it, barely making a dent in it's hide. The particle weaponry was designed for that, to punch huge holes in the thick carapace most of the creatures wore... but it was overkill in this world. A blast from that rifle would take the entire upper torso off of a normal human... he knew full well that it was useful only in extremely dangerous situations. But he couldn't give up his armor... it was the only thing he could count on in this place. He knew who he was, and he knew the armor would work. Everything else in this place.... everything else was questionable. Suchara spoke gently, and he thought he felt a hand on his shoulder for a moment. I'm sorry... you can count on me too, armor or no. Besides... I might be able to help you with that. Help me with my armor? How would you do that? Well, I know you believe that technology is the magic of your world - if that's true I may be able to do something with it. he tried to question her more, but she wouldn't say, so he shook his head and stood, looking after sabre. "Where are you going? I hope I didn't offend so badly..." |

Finally the armor stopped. The calling done, no response. The light left the orbs and the thing stopped any movement. One weregaurd poked at it with a blade only to realise it was like poking steel with a needle. It was quite obvious no-one in this city would risk it but the one who had already died trying to control it. Though no-one seemed to know of the death, not a soul strong enough was taking a chance with it's offer. The Symbol on it's chest vanished, though the design of the hexagon stayed. |

She stopped at the top of the stairs in time to hear Suchara's voice soften to a level she'd never heard her speak. Then again, she and Suchara had never been on good terms and had, therefore, never become friends who spoke as such. With a sigh, she turned around. "There was no offense. I just... am very passionate about what I do. I take it too seriously, some would say. These swords, these souls... they're my life. As is everything in this place. There is a story behind every tapestry, inside every vase, folded in every blade. My job is to find those stories and catalogue them - to become a part of them. It gets complicated when there are obstacles, but I've never not been able to surpass them on my own." ~What about - ~ Althea tried, before Sabre cut her off. "No," she snapped quickly. Althea quieted instantly, those around getting an idea of a young woman sighing in unwanted defeat. "What do you do? You're a warrior, right? So you fight for what you belive to be right... Well, I, too am a warrior. I fight for my life and the lives of those around me - even if that life is in the form of a sword or a goblet or even a spoon - whether it be on the battlefield, in a courtroom or the Great Hall of a castle." She stopped and shifted her weight to her other leg as she tried to think. This was much harder to explain than she had ever imagined. There were some things she wanted to say, others she knew she could not. Taking in a deep breath, she made her way back down the stairs and over to the counter, where the water was finally boiling. She poured two cups of the water and dropped in the tea leaves. Bringing more with her, she set them down on a small coffee table. "I don't know how strong you like yours." She put a few more into her water and stirred it with a stick, which she then set down beside the extra leaves. "To make things easier, I guess I should start from the beginning... I come from a very powerful family in a different kingdom..." |

Alain nodded, and listened. Suchara just went quiet. He spoke when she went quiet. "You're right. I'm a warrior, such as we have on my world... things are different there than they are here though. I fight for my country and my world... more often for my family, though. I fight so that my brothers and sisters can live... I'm the oldest of eight, you know. Well, I have a twin sister, but I'm older by an hour. Our parents died, and we barely were able to feed ourselves... thats why I joined the military, originally, because the government pays for the food now... I just hope theyre still being cared for, I'm almost certainly listed as MIA, at the very least..." He smiled just a little, and looked over at her, then nodded. MIA...? More likely KIA... that was an antimatter explosion after all... "Plenty strong." He took the cup, and looked up, listening to her carefully. |

"I've been alone most of my life. Running from abusive, adoptive parents, dodging a deceitful dragon whose goal in life is to kill off his entire family... Needless to say, I've been around and have learned to take care of myself fairly well. As of, oh, I'd say about 100 years or so ago, I finally met a true member of my family who did not lie about his relation to me. My uncle is a Regent in the kingdom of Earth Haven." She paused to take a breath and a sip of tea while she tried to clear her thoughts. "The dragon I spoke of is my uncle's cousin. Basically, he's an ass and is really out to get anyone who even so much as claims to be in our family, let alone is actually a blood relative of him. I am here in Aronia to hide from him and those who work for him that would seek me out in order to receive a pat on the shoulder from the Baron of the most powerful house in New Avalon - Bloodweaver. I must admit, I've not exactly stuck to my plan of laying low by befriending the priestess and her majesty, the queen, but hey... Two more allies for me, two more enemies for Bloodweaver," she chuckled. "Ugh... You're probably very confused right now, aren't you? Gods, I've confused myself... Perhaps you remember where I was going with telling you my life's story in a nutshell? Or do you have any questions? My brain feels fried from all the thinking. It's been years since I've needed to use my mouth and brain together in order to get my point across to someone other than myself." Shaking her head slowly, she let a small chuckle escape her lips as she brought the teacup up and took a sip. ~In a nutshell... Pah!~ Althea mumbled, scowling quietly into Sabre's brain. ~More like in a nutshell, in a nutshell, wrapped in sheets upon sheets of metal, in a nutshell!~ ~Oh, screw you,~ Sabre sighed, not wanting to deal with Althea's know-it-all attitude right now. |
