As the Queen left, he nodded to her, and leaned down to her level for a moment. "I'm going to go get this off... I'll meet you soon... I'd like to talk to you too." He asked one of the guards if there was a room nearby, and followed the lycan - Lycan? Gods... - to a room, which he opened and walked in, ducking his head so as not to hit it on the doorway. After he was in, he walked to the side, where there were several other suits of armor - the room seemed to be an armory of sorts - and stood there. He took the rifle off his shoulder, and pulled the clip. As he did, a panel opened on his armor, showing several other clips, to which he added the other one. The panel closed, and he slung the rifle, locking section of it to his back. he also drew his pistol, and did the same thing with it's clip, then put it away and locked it in. Okay then... AI - Egress, authorization 41143. The armor gleamed for a moment, then a point of light appeared at the center of the chest. It spread out in several dimly glowing blue lines of light that ran along the form, particularly along the arms and legs. Where the lines had spread, seamless white metal had a thin line running through it. There was a hissing, and the sheets of armor cracked, shifted, and moved apart almost like a fluid. When it finally finished, he stepped out easily enough, as most of the front part of the armor had moved apart. Out of the armor, he was about six and a half, seven feet tall, and dressed in a tight fitting, gray and blue jumpsuit. He had a few chevrons on his arm to symbolize his rank - admittedly low, but still - and U.S MARINES on the left side of his chest. he pushed his hair back, grimacing slightly at the feel of his hair, after a good month straight wearing the suit, he hadnt showered, though thankfully the cooling system kept the sweat off him, and he didnt smell all that bad... though he still wasnt altogether fond of it. He reached back inside the armor, and pulled a case out from the back. "AI, seal, level three." The armor melded back together, and the lines went along it in reverse, melding the seams back together. As it did this, he sat, leaning back against its leg, and unzipped the duffel bag he had. He pulled out a jacket, same colors and insignia, but with a name on it - ALAIN VIRCYN - then put it on. There were also some boots that he had to click a switch on to unflatten, since they had to flatten to stay in that bag. Also in there was a belt with a holster, and a heavy caliber pistol - though nowhere near as heavy as the suit's weapon, the recoil from which he could never handle unassisted. There were also some rations and assorted survival gear, though he didnt think he'd need any of that. He also took out a device that looked like a watch, and strapped that on. As he was going through the things, though, a thin piece of what seemed like plastic. It hit the ground, and the flat part glimmered for a moment, then a picture appeared on it. There were four suits of armor, each for the most part like his, but each had different weaponry and there were some slight differences in the shapes of the armor. The one on the far side though, was far slimmer, and had two strange looking, bladed weapons on either arm. In front of the four suits, there were four people, two men and two women, each wearing clothing almost exactly like what Alain was wearing now. One of the men was Alain, the other was even taller and far broader shouldered, with very dark black skin and short black hair. His coat read TREVOR JACKSON. The woman in the middle was red haired and copper skinned, by far the shortest of the four, and with bright green eyes - CARLA EBANEZ. She was smiling brightly, but had a slightly evil look in her eye, directed towards the huge man on the left. The other woman, standing and looking slightly puzzled, a small smile on her face as Alain rested his arm on her shoulder and leaned against her a while. Her eyes were bright, vibrant blue, but her skin and hair was the purest, ivory white. The name on her coat read ARYA-0138, and it seemed fairly obvious from her height and shape that the odd armor was hers. Alain didnt notice the picture, but rummaged through the bag for his knife, sticking it in his boot before looking further. "Where is that vidscreen..?" |

Sabre woke slowly. She was groggy and slightly confused. Her vision was blurry as she looked around. There were wereguards here. But where was here? Shaking her some, her vision began to become clearer, as did her memory. Groaning quietly, she sat up and instantly got a bit of a head rush. Shaking it off, she stood from the bed and motioned to one of the wereguards. "Bring me to the Queen." He obeyed and the group of three wereguards, one woman made their way to the room where the others were. As they were making their way down the hall, the tall, oddly armored man passed them. Narrowing her eyes, Sabre bade the wolves continue to the Queen's place. She had a few questions for the man... Her barefeet made no noise on the thickly carpeted floor and her dress was made of such a material that kept her movements quiet as well. It was a part of who she was and who she would always be - a woman of espionage, both political and physical. She peeked into the room the man entered and watched him fiddle with his armor and then step out of it. It was quite intriguing, really. Noticing the thing fall, she moved forward when the man didn't seem to mind it. She picked it up and looked at it curiously. "Who are they?" she asked, scanning the picture. "Are they real?" |

He jumped when she spoke, and his hand flew to the hilt of his pistol. "Who are... ah..." He touched his hand to his forehead, then relaxed, letting his hand off the pistol. She didnt look the same, but his instinct told him she was that same woman that had been fighting the man before in the dungeon. Was wierd, though, how she had changed so drastically... He saw what she had, and blinked. "Oh, I must have dropped that. Real?" he blinked a little. "Of course they're real. That's called a photograph, if you've never seen one before... that's my fire team, kind of like my family in the military... Trevor, Carla, and Arya." He indicated their names on their coats, and a sad look came over his face. It hadnt really hit him yet how much he missed them... and it was all coming in now that he could finally relax... they had all been close, the picture was just one moment when they had all been together, laughing and having a good time despite the war they were in... "I'm Alain." He tapped his chest on his name, and shrugged a little. "You can probably tell... I'm... well not from around here." |

"A fotograf?" She tilted her head to the side and looked closely at the thing in her hand. It was like a painting of the man and his friends and their weird armor... but it looked so real. "Who painted it for you? They're obviously very talented." She absorbed the names and faces into her brain, securing them in a back place in case she should ever run into one of these people in their armor. Looking back up to Alain, she smiled. "I'm not from her either, really, but Ombra di Notta has been my home for many years now. The Queen, the Priestess and I have all become good friends." "So, where is this place you're from, with your strange armor?" Moving around the huge form of his suit, she let her fingers glide over the glossy surface gently, admiring the beauty and complexity of the thing. "Oh. My name is Sabre, by the way. I'm afraid everything's gotten me all distracted and not thinking straight," she said with a slight blush creeping onto her ebony cheeks. |

"Painted? Oh, no" He smiled a little, not laughing because he didnt want to offend her, and tapped the screen. "It isnt a painting... see, there is this thing we call a camera, and you point it at the thing you want to take a picture of, then you push a button and it turns that picture into something you can put on paper, or on screens like this." He watched her examine his armor, glad he hadnt activated the security system or she could have been hurt... she looked strange - her skin wasnt black like Trevor's it was black like obsidian, like the black metal on parts of his armor... there was a story, what were they called in it.. Drow? Maybe she was one, things that were legend in his world seemed common enough here... "Ombra di Notta... that's what this city is called, correct...?" he hadnt paid too much attention, really... "It's nice to meet you, Sabre, and don't worry... frankly I doubt I have been thinking clearly since I arrived in this world... everything here seems impossible, like a story that I read a child, but... it all exists here... demons, monsters, elves... and unless I miss my guess what you are is called a Drow? These things are all just in stories back on terra..." He put a hand on his armor as well, then leaned against it, shaking his head. "Thats my planet's name... Terra. This armor was built there..." After a moment, he shook his head. "I suppose things like my armor and photographs are as foreign to you as magic and the other things here are to me..." |

"Odd world..." she mumbled, trying to figure out how things in his world worked by staring at the photo. "Hmm? Oh, yes. This is Ombra di Notta - City of the Night." She smiled, a hint of mischeivnous in her deep amethys eyes. "Impossible? Oh, but it's the opposite here! I don't know what Terra was like, but here in Aronia, the sky's the limit." She chuckled as he finished his little schpeal. "Demons yes. Monsters yes. Elves yes. Dragons yes. Vampires yes. Any creature you can imagine, it's probably here. Drow? Not exactly... Well, you've named both parts of me already, and you've seen me in another form than this, so I suppose I can let you in on my little secret." Across the room, a wereguard shut the door after Sabre motioned to him. "My race is rare here. We don't tend to leave our hellish world, but then again, I am not what I am naturally. Magic is what made me this way. I was once a full-blooded Drow, or Dark Elf, but now I'm a fey'ri - half elf, half demon." Shaking her head, she sighed. "I still just can't believe you live in a place without magic. How do people live? I mean... What happens if you get seriously injured? Perhaps you have potions... Odd world..." |

He laughed a bit at her comment about the sky - where he was from, they had broken even that... but perhaps she meant it in a different way. She must have since he hadnt seen any sort of aircraft... when she finished explaining what she was, he nodded thoughtfully. "I did wonder why you looked different... but your mind felt the same, thats how I knew." He tapped his head, and smiled a little, ruefully. "I guess if you call having a rather well developed mind magic, we do have that kind... I can move things with my mind and occasionally see things that I shouldnt, people's past, thoughts - I don't like that part of the power though, I try to keep it supressed. A person's thoughts should be private, it isnt right to pry into them. Sometiems I can't help it, however... though the Queen did the same to me, no one has ever been able to do that before... my people only started developing this power about... fifty years ago or so, and I'm one of the only ones with that ablility. No one really understands why, but perhaps it's the next step in our evolution - not of body, but of mind..." Alain shrugged a little bit and tapped the corner of the picture plate. It went blank, then was replaced by a picture of a massive dome - at least as large as Ombra di Notta, surrounded by a lush green forest. There were even things growing on the dome itself around the sides, but the metal and composite structure was built to allow that. He smiled a little bit. "That device you have has more than one picture in it. Anyways, that's the city I'm from, it's called New Detroit. new because we tore it down and rebuilt it, you see - part of it is under the dome, the rest is deep underground. We moved under so the trees could grow back... we very nearly made the mistake of spreading too far out and killing them altogether, but... we brought them back and moved where we wouldn't hurt them. It's amazing how the earth has healed itself..." He shrugged a little bit, and sat back again, thinking about her last comment. "I guess we get along without it because we've never even known it existed. You find ways to do things with what you have, and since we've never had magic, we found ways to do what we want without it. Like this suit, for instance. It makes me stronger, faster, it protects me from attack and has weapons of its own that are extremely powerful, plus it enhances my mind's ability. But it doesn't run on magic at all. It runs on a kind of energy we call electricity. Like lightning, you have that here. Well, we found, about... six hundred years ago or so, that using a special machine that is actually not hard to build, you can make electricity, the same thing lightning is made of. And with it you can do all kinds of things, make light, heat... well over all that time weve found more and more ways to make it and use it. This suit makes its own, with a device in here." He reached up and patted the back of the armor, where the power cell was. "I bet you could make something sort of like this with magic, or something like that photo viewer, but we make them with electricity and machines. As for injuries, well... I guess you could call them potions... we make our own medicines using all sorts of things, usually things we find in plants and other animals, but... it's different than a potion, really. I'm not a doctor, I couldn't really tell you... suffice to say that humans where I'm from usually live to be at least a hundred and fifty before they're considered 'old', whereas originally humans got old by the age of fifty. So however thise doctors do it, it obviously works." Alain laughed a little bit. He had never thought about all of this as being strange, but... this world was stuck - technologically at least - a good fifteen hundred years behind his people... so naturally things would seem strange. Of course, with magic, who knew how far they would ever advance? This culture could be far older than his - and what with the fact that there were elves and vampires and... fey'ri, he imagined it was - yet for them there was no need to build machines and electricity like there had been for his people, they had magic to do these things... was likely even if they had another fifteen hundred years, they would never advance to the place where his people were now. Though... someone might discover gene manipulation and advance them to the level of the splicers... he shuddered at the thought. "Of course not everyone on the planet shares our views about nature and life... they crave our thriving forests and wildlife... but theyve ruined their part of Terra, we cannot allow them to take any more - that is why weapons like this suit were built. The war has been going on for decades now..." |

She listened to his words with curiosity. Her mind absorbed everything that was said and locked it away into a special place where she stored her memories of people, places and spoken words worth remembering. "Hmm... We've got plenty of people with minds like yours. Perhaps with the evolution of your minds, your people will begin to see the magic that is all around you," she smiled, letting him continue. Standing in thought for a moment, she contemplated all he had just told her. She looked at his photograph one last time before handing it back to him. "Would you care to join me once you're done collecting your things? I've got to return to my home and relieve the wolves there. I've also got a hunch about something... I'd like to test out my theory." Her eyes almost glowed with excitement as she spoke to him. Her smile was soft, but it was quite obvious that it was normal for her. |

"Yeah? I dont know... once you get used to a certain thing, you tend to think that way... its hard for me to accept all the things Ive seen happen without technology here... but then, I've seen it for myself, who am I to argue...? I'm rational enough to accept what my own eyes tell me... and since I can sense people here... it can't be a dream..." He shook his head, then stood and walked behind his armor, opening a small panel with a touch. Deuterium supply is less than half... I'll have to find a good water source when it's daylight, and hope I can rig the photocells properly... He took the bag up again, and pulled out a length of a sheer black cloth, then put it back in. Will take some doing... but maybe I can substitute telekinesis for tools...? resigning himself to the fact that he would have to make do, he put the bag back down and nodded to her, taking his pictures back. "I'm sure the Queen wont mind, seems she has things she must talk about with a lot of people before me... so sure, I'll come. Two things though - which house is yours and should I bring this?" Putting a hand on the armor suit again |

She watched him work, smirking quietly at how he reminded her of a very, very large gnome... "Your eyes are definitely a good ally to your belief, but they can be decieving sometimes. Utilize all of your senses. And never forget to use your heart or instinct. Those two alone will help you get through any ordeal you come across. Can your eyes do that?" She smirked playfully. "The Queen is quite the busy woman, especially now that she's returned after a lengthy absence. I, too, must speak with her, but for now I think she should tend to Victoria... that is, the woman whom we were protecting down in the dungeon. Victoria is the Queen's right hand girl. If they weren't immortal, I'd say I doubt one could live without the other." Clearing her throat, she shrugged lightly. "My house is on plot E4. It's right next to the entrance to the town, but even that doesn't get it many customers." She chuckled quietly. "Not that I care. I'm in the business because I like it, not to make money. And no, you shouldn't need that. If there's any reason you need it, well, I've got enough tricks up my sleeve to get us out of just about any situation." Smiling reassuredly, she moved to the door. "So, would you like to come? I can make tea." |
