The song Kelpie's most 'popular artist' was very much enjoyed. Not only by the crowd, but by Brass as well. The song fit in the worst way. As usual though, Brass did not let it worry him, life was too short for such things. His attention was soon caught by a young woman fighting a drunken patron. 'Atleast the man has already given us his money...' Brass thought to himself. If the sweet little thing wanted to kock his teeth down his throat, then he would need a few more shots to relieve the pain. Atleast, that was how most of the population handles such situations around here. As the girl carved into the other man, Brass noticed it was somehow arousing. His mouth betraying him and the corner of his mouth perked. The bouncer's swift intervention was very comforting to Brass. If there were no bouncers, I would be left up to Brass alone. It had been that way in the beginning, and it was nothing he wanted to go through again. His rise to power, so to speak, had not been without sacrifice and fists. Tevy's appearance quickly dispelled any pleasureable thoughts of the girl. Instead, his primitive protective instincts kicked in. Still, Tevy's graceful movements were accounted for as well. His attention was aimed at the confrontation, but he still kept his ears alert around him. |

Chase looked behind him at the whole thing rather irritably, but a few of the other bouncers were already on it, and so he didn't bother himself. Instead he took that opportunity to look back to Tevy and ask for a drink. "Just give me a beer, then, ple- Oh." he looked behind him again to see that the tender was now in the middle of the fray as well. He sighed a little bit and looked over to Brass. "How about that. I finally decide that I'm off the job for tonight, and my job still manages to take out of my drinking time. Maybe I'll take a leaf out of your book, just find a woman who's been drinking. Same end result." This was all beyond Natalie's earshot, so then he looked back to the singer, stopped once, and looked back to brass. "No I didn't mean her." He turned to the singer again and smiled slightly. "Who knows? I keep my professional opinions to myself around here. And as for the length of my occupation here... lets see... I dealt cards for three years till one person got pissed and I had to break his arm... and I've done this ever since. I'd say... fifteen years? At least?" He yawned a little and filled his fake drink up again. Still fake. Didn't care. |

As she was headed back around to the half door leading to the back of the bar, she noticed Brass had turned his attention to her. Her cheeks flushed a slight pink which she hoped no one would notice. If they did, she could always use the 'it's hot in here and I just jumped over the bar' excuse. Her eyes wandered left a bit and she saw that Chase was looking at her, too. "A wha - oh. Yeah, sure. Right on it." Shutting and locking the little half door, she noticed she was the only bar tender here now. But it was only a little after midnight. Frowning slightly, she listened for any sounds in the back store room. Silence. Her feet touched lightly on the floor as she took three steps to where the cooler where beer mugs were kept was. Opening it, she removed a mug from the bottom, ensuring that it would be cold for the head of the Kelpie security. Filling the mug with some beer straight from the tap, she set it down in front of Chase and smiled. "If you'll all excuse me, I've got to go check on stores real quick," she murmured, her eyes shifting from the left to the right again, searching for any signs of any of the other two tenders. Still no sign of either women. Clearing her throat, she nodded politely, casually, before turning and heading to the store room. It was a mess. Bottles had been strewn every which way, broken and spilling all over the floor. How hadn't she heard whatever happened in here, though?! A darker, thicker liquid slid up to her right boot and she squinted down at it. It didn't look like any sort of liquor she could think of. Her eyes followed the trail of liquid until they rest on the source. Eyes already clouding with hot tears, Tevy opened her mouth. All was silent for a moment. As the shock finally washed over her, her eyes widened and she let out a piercing shriek. OOC: *shrugs* Felt like making some sort of little plot twist. LoL. |

Wash: I think they really captured his essence. Kaylee: He looks kinda mean. Wash: That's sorta what I meant. Simon: This must be what going mad feels like. Kaylee: Everywhere I go, his eyes keep followin' me... | |

Natalie's eyes caressed the situation that played out at near the entrance with little enthusiasm. Fight's weren't her thing, but she did like it when there was a little brawn involved. The fight was unfair, but hell, didn't matter. The guy had it coming to him anyways, as did they all. Lifting her drink to her lips, she swilled it quickly, her face crunching as it burned it's way to her stomach. The glass made a hollow click on the bar as she clumsily set it down. Her head spun, much like the world when she opened her eyes, which found Chase. She grinned haphazardly at him, her eyes reddening, and her cheeks flushed. "Tis best to leave personal affairs and opinions from the work place." She spoke somewhat slurred. "I have a hard enough time myself." her eyes followed Tevy, unnoticing of her actions, or anyone elses for that matter. Natalie drifted off for a moment in though aout nothing in particular, but returned her eyes to Chase. "Fifteen years is a long ti..." She was cut off though, as Tevy's voice brought her straight up on her stool. As quickly as her intoxication would allow, she maneuvered her focus to the woman, who stood in the Doorway, behind the Bar. It was obvious, something had happened, but she really wasn't sure what. Pushing from her stool, she made her way around the Bar to offer assistance in whatever was needed. Really she had no idea what she was doing. Wether she helped or was just in the way, it was all out of obviously good intention. Making it to the door, she peered in and her eyes widened, her hand clapping against her mouth, stifiling her own whine. The Scene sobered her, like a bucket of cold water. |

Brass' adrenaline was still pumping when Tevy took her place back at the bar. His eyes meeting Tevy's, Brass looked away to the rest of the crowd. It wasn't polite to stare. The crowd was still quite thick even though Natalie had finished her set. The other girls certainly gave her a run for her money, litterally. It was comforting to know his buisness was not without talent. Well, atleast a few exquisite females. Anybody who was anybody came to the casino. Natalie was lucky to find such a job with the clientele, as well as all of the performers. Standing, Brass was about to say his farewell's when a blood curdling scream stopped him immediately. It was Tevy's voice. His head snapped towards the sound and saw Natalie run to the store room. Her reaction only weightened the ball of lead in his stomach. Jumping onto the bar and sliding to the other side, Brass knocked a few glasses onto the floor which shattered instantly. In a matter of seconds, Brass was at the store room door and could see Tevy behind Natalie. Abruptly taking Natalie by the shoulders, Brass moved her out of his way. Rushing into the room, Brass' eyes caught the lifeless bodies. Even he was caught off guard. Looking at Tevy, he saw her eye well. Brass pulled Tevy close to him, holding an arm across her back and a hand at the back of her neck to comfort her. 'It could have been you...' Brass thought to himself, catching himself from speaking aloud. "Get everybody out of here!" Brass shouted orders to the bouncers as he turned his head in the direction of the bar. Someone had not only violated his casino, but himself. This was personal. Whoever had hurt his employees would be punished severely. |

Chase heard the scream, then he watched all the reactions, and he shook his head a little. Honestly, he had felt that Brass could have handled this situation better... still, it was irritating. This had occured right under his nose. Kiri would give him no end of grief when it was over. For now he needed her professional side... "Boss, I think this calls for rather more finesse." His voice was just as cool as it had always been, even though he had walked over and seen the carnage himself. Not the first time someone had died in the Casino, but the fact that it was an employee hurt slightly. He walked to one of his suboordinates and tapped her shoulder. She was a woman that looked in her early twenties, stunning in a periwinkle dress - and deadlier than she looked by far. He had many women bouncers like this one, attractive, and their flawless grace was an indication of the martial arts training they had all had... "Get Kiri for me, would you dear..? Tell her we have a problem. Tell her to have the door scoped and then come see me." The woman smiled at him softly, maintaining her persona. Good. She held to her training. He watched her leave, then he turned to the crowd and raised a hand, his voice cutting the nervous noise like a knife. "Allright everyone!" The chatter quieted, and he smiled slightly. This was the kind of situation he dealt with... "We're closing early tonight because of an accident, so I'll have to ask both for your understanding - and that you all please return to your rooms, or leave through the doors you came in through. We do aplogize but we must also firmly insist. Goodnight, all." A few voices spoke out angrily, but he simply spoke again. "Goodnight." As the other bouncers shooed them out, he walked back over and took Natalie by the shoulders, then sat her down on a barstool, handing her his beer. "Watch that for me, will you dear? And get a hold of yourself. You go before huge crowds five times a night, use that calm now. Brass - boss." He looked over. Oh great the man was making a move on Tev NOW? He'd seen the man looking, but by god... "Sorry to interrupt... the door is being swept for any sign of the one responsible but the chances he'll be caught after this much time are slim, he has likely left. Or, alternately, he is in one of the rooms. We will conduct another sweep tonight, if they are in this building now they are not getting out of it. Now, perhaps you should leave the rest of this situation - " "To us." Kiri walked up behind him, her golden eyes catching Chase's, and he nodded slightly. They understood what the other meant, always. Kiri walked over and touched Tevy's shoulder lightly. "Sorry you had to be the one to discover that, sweety..." Chase slipped past them then and knelt by the bodies. He dipped his finger in the blood and held it up to look at. "Cold... if he was planning to leave he's slipped off by now." "Chance of that?" "Pretty good but that still leaves us a chance. You have Al doing the sweep right?" Al was their psychic - very good at catching cheaters and the occasional murderer. "Of course I do, yeesh." Kiri smoothed Tevy's hair once, and nodded to Brass before walking in to kneel besides Chase as they looked the scene over. |

There was movement around her. She saw Natalie, but she didn't know who she was. Someone came barging through from behind the singer, but again, the faces were blurred, the names lost. Tears threatened to fall from under her dark lashes and at last, when she felt someone's arms wrap around her comfortingly, she allowed them their wish. Heavy sobs escaped Tevy's mouth as she clung tightly to whoever was there for her. She didn't quite care at this moment, just the fact that someone was here protecting her from whatever had gotten these other girls - the girls whom she had worked with for years, whom she had befriended and went out to parties with on nights they didn't have work, the girls who were slaughtered here in their own store room. How had Tevy not noticed the intruder? On the other side of the bar, Keene Jada peered through the store room door. He saw Tevy, frightened to death near what seemed to be a small pool of blood slowly creeping towards her. Someone had died, or perhaps killed. He watched as numerous people vaulted over the bar or ran around to Tevy's side and decided to head in a different direction. Gasping for breath, Tevy relaxed some, but shakily. She pulled back some from the one holding her, only to find that she did recognize the face. It was Brass. Her eyes, filled with sorrow, seemed to apologize to him before she buried her face back into his shoulder, another wave of sobs overcoming her. Another form blocked the doorway, this one a bit larger than Chase. His long, silvery hair flowed behind him as his piercing grey eyes scanned the scene. Two bloodied corpses of young girls - bartenders here -, Tevy sobbing in the casino owner's arms, the singer standing idly lost in her own shock, and two bouncers examining the bodies. Keene Jada moved forward to where Tevy was clinging to Brass for dear life. His deep voice rumbled from his throat as he knelt beside the pair. "Her mother is here," he said as a smaller, more feminine form came into view from the doorway. Putting a gentle hand on Tevy's shoulder, he sent some of his strength into the young girl. "I think we should get her out of here. Come on Tevy... Your mother's here to see you, dear." His deep voice was commanding, but soft. It was obvious she would not come to harm with him. Standing, Keene Jada held a hand down to Tevy, hoping Brass would help him escort her to her mother. |

Brass listened to the words Chase spoke, understanding what he was saying but Brass' mind still focused on Tevy and the slaughtered women. The comment of an interruption did not catch Brass' attention as it usually would have. The correct actions were being carried out and he hoped they would find whomever was responsible for the womens' deaths. "Let me know when and where you find the bastard. I want to have a 'talk' with them," Brass replied to Chase. Brass had all intentions of beating the person while they were tied up. Granted it was the cowards way out, but he didn't care. A lesson needed to be taught to anyone who threatened the casino in ANY way. The look Tevy gave him as she looked up briefly broke his heart. She did not deserve this to happen to her. Tevy was one of the few people Brass knew that he could trust to have his back to. He sighed heavily, wishing he could protect her from everything that had happened. Brass recognized the man that approached him, as Tevy spoke to the man often that Brass had noticed. The mention of her mother shifted Brass' eyes towards the woman he assumed was she. 'How did her mother get here so fast?' Brass thought to himself. News traveled quick he supposed, almost flattering the popularity of his casino. Releasing Tevy slowly, Brass glanced from her to the man and back. "If you need anything, money, transportation...just let me know and it's yours." It was a rarity that Brass would offer his help, much less his personal connections at their disposal. Tevy needed to be safe, and that was all that mattered. Brass almost felt helpless. If she was with him, he could protect her. And he was letting her just walk out. Brass ground his teeth slightly in both anxiety and anger. It would be a long night... |

Natalie was a normaly hard woman, who wasn't easily shaken, but the display in the back room, was much too shocking for her taste. Staying where Chase sat her, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths, trying to steady her head. The disfifureg bodies of the poor women haunted her mind though so she reopened her eyes. It all sobered her a little, enough to stand and move away from the gathering crowd. She watched as Tevy left, feeling bad for the poor girls, as she had found it. Moving across the bar, she found a corner table and sat herself in it, crossing her arms and laying her head in them. It was too early to go home and she had nothing better to do than stay where she was safe and under the watchful eye of those who ran the casino. She was in fact scared for her life at that point. She worried as well for Tevy. It was odd that they were just girls that had been killed, odd to her anyways. Tempted to go and grab a bottle, she was forced to fight off the urge. She needed to quit drinking. The healers told her that ifshe didn't she die of liver rot, or even possibly wet brain. Neither sounded appetizing. Instead she went and fetched a pitcher of water, bringing it back to her table with a coupleof glasses. She figured that if she would be of any help, they would ask. Keeping her post, she surveyed the place, watching for an odd face, or something out of place. |
