Chase sat, sipping his pretend drink for a while, and watched brass go. Once he was out of earshot, he leaned over the bar slightly, a smile on his face. "You know, he's so right. And not ten minutes ago, I gave those girls a hundred to think he's an asshole. Nice choice of drink, by the way, that is really going to sting." Still smiling, he downed the last of the glass and put it on the bar, then just sat and watched the people. He had always found the interactions of people at the casino to be... entertainment at its finest. You had the high rollers, the down on their luck businessman hoping to turn it all around, the kids who were on a luck streak (one that was sure to end badly, he had found), and then there were the sore losers. There was one nearby, he thought. And he knew his men would be on the watch for the guy, so he didnt pay attention, not at first anyways. Over the years, his job had been more managerial, and less throwing people out on their asses, but every now and then he took a few people out, just for old times sake. And besides, paperwork gets oh so boring after a while. He nearly burst out laughing, seeing Brass' miserable failure, and returned the wink Nina gave him as she walked away. He would tell her later how great it was. When the situation at the bar sprang up, however... Tevy shouldnt have gotten herself involved in this... she could take care of herself, he was certain of that, but he was sitting right there, and there were at least three of his men within twenty feet... it was a nice gesture, but unessecary. "I don't think it was the drink, perhaps you were simply too forward. Excuse me." Chase sighed, sad that the man had interrupted the gloriousness of his boss's defeat. He stood, signaling for the other man to back down, and walked over to the man himself. He put a hand on the man's shoulder, and shook his head. "Now, that is not the kind of behavior you should be showing. She only tried to be nice, and no one here has done anything wrong. You don't want to be the first, now do you?" His tone was light, jovial even, but there was a very distinct 'or else' look in his eye. Unrulines was one thing. Threatening someone that was about as close to a friend as he ever got was yet another entirely. He didnt want to have to hurt the poor bastard, really he felt sorry for him... but he would. Without hesitation. |

Listening to Chase's words of Brass' forwardness, they were dead on. It was definately better having the two think him a failure than shallow. Even if he was rather fond of the female body, for the time being he could hold off. The rowdiness of a patron towards another and to his bartender brought his attention sharply. Watching Chase take control of the situation, Brass waited for the moment when his assitance or fists would be needed. A silver-haired man approaching the bar caught Brass' eye. He was a regular customer, what could he possibly have involved with the bartender? Unless he intended harm to the bartender as well, considering it was not a bouncer Brass recognized. Anger was present inside him, outwardly it was unnoticable. The wait to intervene felt longer than it actually was. |

Tevy growled at the man, but stopped instantly as Chase appeared beside him with scolding words and a threatening, menacing aura about him. Her eyes wandered round the room and found those of four other bouncers just within a 30 foot radius. Her eyes met those of Keene Jada's next and she shook her head subtly as she looked down and put the water hose back in its place beneath the counter. The silver-haired man stopped in his tracks, turned and took a seat where he was, right next to Brass. "Another water, please, if you will, tender," he mumbled. Tevy nodded without making eye contact and quickly filled a glass with some ice and water. "No le-" "I know." She set down the glass in front of him with a small smile. "I'll get your paper, Sir." Moving back down the bar, she began pulling his papers together to bring them back to him. |

"That's a good man. The trouble isn't worth it, I can promise you." He smiled and sat down a few seats away, waving casually to Jada, whom he had met a few times, but rather briefly. The creature, as far as he could tell, mostly kept to itself and to Tevy. He almost sighed in relief, but didn’t. Things like this were common, but he was actually a little surprised it had cooled so quickly. More that that, he was surprised his subordinates had closed in from so many different angles. He stood, and walked over to one, smiling amicably. The man smiled back, but had paled slightly, and looked strained. Chase put a hand on his shoulder, and offered to give him a drink for luck. They both sat at a more remote end of the bar, and chase gave Tevy a glance, knowing she would get it - No drinks needed. When he spoke, it was light, with no reproach - but the man would surely understand it was there. He was also quiet enough not to be heard over all the noise. "Did Kiri over schedule bouncers again tonight? Or perhaps it was me? You know how I forget... Oh wait. No I don't." The man tried to hide his nervousness, knowing that he would just blow their cover, so he tried to be calm as possible. He was not nearly so good, though. "The man was about to start something, we were just doin-" "One man, Kane, one middle aged man, to boot. You've all been trained, mostly by me, in three different forms of combat, not to mention I know most of you are armed with something or other, even though I expressly told you not to be..." Kane tried to hide the hilt of his dagger under his coat a little better. "But sir, we were trying to -" "What on earth are you calling me sir for, man? I was just offering you a drink." The message got across. Quiet down and shut the hell up. "Now listen, Kane, I want you to spread the word. One disturbance means one of you, not four. Overkill is not something you were taught. If Dawson is the only one, since he's a rookie, another of you can stand watch, but I will not have you blowing your own cover by mysteriously always being there for every little thing." Chase finished his whispered reproach, still smiling, and gestured to the crowd, specifically the silver haired man that had started to intervene before he had shown up. "And put a tail on him, too, but for gods sake be discreet." He clapped Kane on the shoulder, laughing. "Well, hope your luck keeps up, I'll let you get back to your game.” Chase sat down near Brass again, and shook his head. "Some people have no tact." |

Brass simply observed his employees. Granted there were quite a few who had come to Tevy's aid, but atleast they had been doing their job. Overzealous bouncers could prove to be fatal as well. After Chase had returned from his pep talk, Brass chuckled at his statement. "Tact is a quality many do not have," Brass nodded his head in the direction of a man who was obviously self-absorbed due to his excessive muscular development, "Take that man for example, surely he finds brawn useful to get what he desires." Brass grinned, "But that is not enough here, I want the money in his pocket. Tact gets you the money, which in turn gets you the power." Brass shruggged. Returning his thoughts to the incident, "Tevy is our best bartender, as far as I am concerned. For her, the attention was worth the possible discovery of our methods, if that happened in any other situation, it would be quite the problem." It was not that Brass was chastising chase, he just wanted to let Chase know how the employees were a priority of his. If there was one thing Brass knew about people, it was who was an asset and who was disposable. |

As she returned to Keene Jada, she smiled pleasnatly, but brought her voice down to a whisper, while beginning to rummage under the bar counter. "I could have handled that myself, Keene." ~I know~ he replied, without a spoken word. "So why'd you come to my rescue? everyone's on edge now. That's not supposed to happen. There are too many bouncers in this area, dammit. I hope none of the customers noticed. More water, Sir?" Her head popped back up from under the bar as her voice rose back to its normal, loud and cheery self. "Yes, please." "Ice or no?" "Please." "Alrighty." Tevy moved back over to where Brass was sitting, and where Chase had just returned to in order to get a clean glass and some ice. "Overstocked much?" she asked quietly, sending a slight grin in Chase's direction. |

Chase nodded "Which is why no one is being fired, hm? I can handle my department, you know that." There was no reproach in that comment, just a very small hint that he knew how operations ran with the bouncers rather better than his boss, and that was a fact. Brass had not worked his way up through that particular part of the ranks as he had, he could handle it just fine. When Tevy came back, he laughed. "Oh, no, stock is just fine, it's the concentration I have to be careful of. I have some people working to thin it a little, and some more to track some shipments I can't identify" Referring there, of course, to the odd silver haired man. Just then, a golden haired neko walked over and sat next to him, sipping at a water absently. She brushed his arm with her tail, and looked over to him slyly. "What's this about my schedule?" Chase sighed, then looked over at her, raising an eyebrow. "Suddenly everyone wants to know, hm? No, you're fine. And I was under the impression you had better things to do today then hang around the workplace, Kiri." She smiled again, and shrugged. She was wearing a slightly revealng black dress - and if anyone was paying attention, did bear some resemblance to the neko Brass had repelled earlier. "Well, my cousin wanted to see the place... thank you, sir, by the way." Turning now to Brass "You made her some money, it seems, by way of chase here." She placed a hand on his shoulder and grinned, knowing full well what she wrought. Chase shook his head. "Always blowing my cover..." |

Brass shrugged his shoulders when he vocalized his management skills, he had faith in Chase. Brass listened to the conversation, only curious rather than concerned. However, when the neko had sat beside Chase, Brass had to take a second look. The resemblence was there and the admittance of her cousin linked two and two for him. Then Kiri informed him of what happened. Blinking twice, Brass was angry for a moment. Then he craked a smirk. "Touche, Chase, touche." Brass began to grow thirsty, and figured that one drink would not hurt. Besides, he had not touched a drop of alcohol all day. Again, he motioned to the bartender, not in a hurried movment, whenever she got a moment. |

She was free rather quickly, as many of the bar customers had moved away to other areas of the casino during the scene a few moments previous. Sending Keene Jada's glass of water sliding down the bar to him, she grinned as his quick hands caught it and brought it up to his mouth, all in one fluid motion. Turning to Brass, she nodded to him and wiped her hands clean of the droplets of water still residing there. As her eyes moved along the two men's faces, they soon found a third face - that of Kiri, one of the neko bouncers. She flashed a grin in Kiri's direction and raised her eyebrows. "I did my part, so you better get me my share, too. A bartender don't get paid much unless she gets tipped well, ya know." She laughed and gave Kiri a wink before turning back to Brass. "So, what can I getcha, Sir?" She grinned at her boss and leaned down on the bar between him and Chase, waiting for his order. |

ooc: Sorry, lol... I forgot it was my post, was looking at the other thread Chase chuckled slightly, and shook his head. "Well, I supposed that someone ought to keep you humble, Brass..." he smiled, then yawned. Kiri laughed as well, and shook her head. "I dont think your intentions were nearly so pure. And As for you, Tevy, I happen to know that you already got more than your share - don't be greedy, dear." Chase raised an eyebrow. "Now just wait. I'm interested to know just how far you expanded my little prank." Kiri brushed his cheek with her tail, and leaned back a bit. "Nothing you need you worry your lil head over, Chase." "That worries me more than if you had told me to worry..." |
