Rect; I didn't mean "3 Programmers", I meant what I said: 3 Designers. From what I've seen, you're great for bouncing ideas off of. And having 3 people involved with the map, and with control of it, it seems safer. It's more work, for sure yes, but it sounded better to me. Cloud; You don't seem to understand how much WC3 will survive after the release of SC2. Here are some small factors; 1. SC2 Requires MUCH more power/resources to play without lag. 2. SC2 is heavier on your internet. Not MASSIVELY, but enough so to make a difference. 3. Alot of people still have problems even with WC3. 4. WC3 has "Heroes", StarCraft II will NOT. 5. WC3 has alot more "Nature" details for it that most people will want to make use of for RPGs and such. 6. StarCraft One still has new maps coming out for it bi-monthly, even after ALL this time. There are some other things, but I think those are the most prominent. WC3 Custom Maps will slightly die down, but only slightly. WC3 Ladder will DIE with the release of SC2. So there's really no reason to scrap making a map just because SC2 is coming out. People will still be playing WC3 in four years from now, just like they still play RoC. Think of how many times you've beaten Final Fantasy *Insert your favourite number under 10 here*. How many times in the last three years? Two? One? Yeah. Exactly. You'll play it next year too probably. Hell, you'll probably even play the original version sometime after they remake it with PS3-epic graphics. |

I dunno. I suppose that WC3 will still be populated, but looking at the online statistics getting lower every year makes me think it will drop a significant amount. Afterall I know starcraft is still popular( As i play online from time to time) but if the sequel releases, then i assume that Starcrafts population will drop as well. But my opinion is based on everyone around me talking about getting a new computer and starcraft II when it comes out. So i guess we shall see when the time comes. And that fourth reason is why alot of people are switching over to starcraft II and why people still like starcraft. Because there is no single unit that can bumfuck the tide of a battle. |
