when did i say it was the first non side scroller? maybe i wasnt clear with whatever i said, but it was in ( ) i know that, and it was talking about duke nukem. i was saying, the thing i was nominating as a classic was the first duke nukem to not be a side scroller. i hope thats clearer. and i dont like how you simply say its not a classic, what are the things that make a classic a classic? there arent many games like it (not saying fps's, saying with the same.. idk some short of "personality") it was kinda.. jokey-ish.. anyway, i still say its a classic, and unless you give good reasons why it isnt. then just dont say it isnt. |

Legend of Legaia was awsome. It was like my Crack for a great long time. There's Morrowind, also a game that is my crack. Baulders Gate 2, of course. Planescape Torment (Duh) Vampire the Masqurade Bloodlines. I will try to think of more, but these are must plays. |

Garaa: Please rephrase this for my ever-so-stupid mind:
Now my appearently stupid mind sees the bold and thinks "WTF!?". So basically it's a classic becuase it's not a side scroller? It's a classic becuase the first duke nukem was not a side scroller? what the HELL are you talking about? As for what classic is: Old, timeless, and started a large legacy and that the majority of people have played. And dammit, PS2+ I really don't think should count. I'm okay with Tenchu becuase it started on PSX. Thus Megaman=classic. Tenchu=...Kinda...classic...ish StarCraft=Classic kinda. I still play it sometimes. As does I believe 1/10th of bnet*This is including WoW, diablo, WC3, and so on*(Oh and before you say it, SC's legacy=StarCraft:Ghost, StarCraft II, StarCraft:Broodwar) Gawd now that I said it I can't wait for SCII. Come to think of it, I'm waiting just as badly for SCIV though. StarCraft II and Soul Calibur IV. Heheh |

i nominated it for a classic because of all of the stuff i had listed befor (the main character, level design, sertin things it started, cool weapons that arent seen in other games that are out today, enemy design) however it is the first in the series of duke nukem games to be a first person shooter not a side scroller, i believe it was called duke nukem 3D. i knew it was the first duke nukem not to be a side scroller. btw i have never had to dumb down what i was saying this much for anything. ever. and since you didnt start this topic let me be more specific: whoever started it, haku i think, what makes a game a classic? is it what she said, or can duke nukem be a classic for the things i listed? |

the first duke nukem was a side scroller ( would you prefer i nominate this one? since it did start a franchise) the sequal was duke nukem II i believe it was also a side scroller. then it was duke nukem 3D, which was an fps, and had all the stuff i had listed befor. go read about it on wiki if you want. also, i would actualy like you too.. so i might actualy link it after this, because it shows all of the stuff that games today do not. how many games have you played were you can use the toilet? or drink from the spray of water from the pipes of a sink you just blew up? or shoot/see strippers? it was also one of the first to have such intricet level design (i know i spelled it wrong!) and those cool vents you just love walking around in. i would just like to say/quote: "Duke Nukem 3D's graphic engine was an evolutionary step forward from the Doom engine." then there was Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project.. which bassicly adds more stuff.. and then.. Duke Nukem Forever.. which i need to read abou.. seems interesting. thats as far as the pc seems to go however, there were three games 1 for the nintendo 64, two for the ps1. 3 handheld thingys.. and thats it.. but lets see.. thats what? 12 games, and the plutonium pack expansion for 3d.. so like 13 games? if you want then, i will nominate the series or the original. edit1: ok duke nukem forever has yet to be relesed. no date has been said, but it has been planned and worked on. so i guess duke nukem either lives on, or dies with this game? but its franchise shorta is still alive i sappose.. untill this project is dead. edit2: Duke Nukem Forever (DNF) is a first-person shooter video game being developed by 3D Realms, and is the next game in the Duke Nukem series. It is famous for its protracted development schedule, which began in April 1997. The game has been hindered by poor management, several internal rewrites, as well as engine technology restarts. Promotional information has been released in 1998, 2001, and most recently in December 2007.[2][3] Forever stars its eponymous character, Duke Nukem, and is the fourth game of the main series. Like its predecessor, Duke Nukem 3D, Forever is being directed by George Broussard, one of the creators of the original Duke Nukem game. |

SMRPG is definitely a classic. I really like some of the older Sonic and Donkey Kong games. Their music and level design in particular really impressed me. There are too many games that could go on a list of true classics, I don't feel like thinking of any more >_> |
