Talk about any games you think would be a classic. First, you rate the ones in the post above then talk about why the only you posted should be a classic. Honestly, Tenchu was a classic ever since it came out; especially Wrath of Heaven. Only thing I can hate about it is that my disc is so old and scratched up, that it can't even go through its opening anymore which is by far one of the best game openings. It's stealth system is godly and you can just love the variety of weapons in your arsonal from poisonous onigiri to bombs and fireworks to even the Muramusa or Fugaku. Plus, the gameplay is by far the best for any ninja game ever made. The plot is very refined since its about two different main characters instead of one (with more added later from other games). The only confusing part is theat Tenchu Stealth Assassins occurs after Birth of the Assassins and Wrath of Heaven is after Fatal Shadows I believe. Overall its a good series, any comments? |

Obviously you need to go back to Death Star elementary: Kid1: "4...5..6..umm" Teacher: "What comes after six?" Kid: "Oh! 1 2 3!" Teacher: "Good job!" I would say Haruhi Elementary but that numbers are too random. |

It wasn't a flame at all. It was a joke... Personally I enjoy having a prequel released after the main story. Becuase there's more excitement for people like me. Plus Rikimaru died at the end of the first game, how could they go further than that without centering purely on Ayame with the princess as a sub-character. Albeit I would enjoy it, but without Rikimaru it wouldn't be as great for some people. Or worse: Resurrecting Rikimaru. My only question is: Why is it rikimaru is so much more bad ass in Wrath of Heaven than Stealth Assassins, canonically speaking. It makes me QQ. It's like how Star Wars episode I/Star Trek Enterprise is more advanced than Star Wars episode VI/Star Trek. |

You people need to expand why you think those are better. No idiotic posts in this thread I kid you not. Cormag and Inuyasha; you two need to expand on your games and respond to the ones we posted. ___ I wasn't really a fan of Super Mario RPG, sorry. ___ Mario Cart was a good game at start but too easy and there wasn't really anything to it. ___ Well I've only played Wrath of Heaven (which I currently own) and Fatal Shadows so I don't really know much about the ps1 originals. Only Tenchu game I don't like at all is Tenchu Z since it kinda goes away from the story with new characters and its more for multiplayer than story. |

To answer your question it is quite simply the fact that when Wrath of Heaven came about they actually had the technology to create an even more in depth experience than the original 2. Honestly I liked the original Tenchu best because it handled better than the other 2 in more ways. Wrath of Heaven was great and I still love it, but forcing the player to use the analog sticks turned into a huge problem for me mainly because if you just slightly hit the stick the wrong way in some levels (like the limestone caverns which is loaded with pitfalls) you were as good as dead. Birth of the Stealth Assassins was a good game too, but I hated how immensely anal they were with the ranking. If you got spotted even once then you could NEVER get the Grand Master ranking, something particularly annoying for someone like me who really likes to try and get that ranking without any extra items. BTW, if you're Tenchu players and want a REALLY good challenge try that sometime. Now then, I'm going to move onto the game that started my favorite series of all time: Resident Evil. The original Resident Evil, quite simply, represented the pinnacle of horror games for its time. While Alone in the Dark started the survival horror genre, Resident Evil took it to a whole new level in all aspects including graphics, story, and gameplay. Even today the original PS1 version of RE is still considered one of the best survival horror titles, just as entertaining as it was when it was first released (I in fact know people who still get so freaked out playing the original they can't play the game for extended periods of time). With a few exceptions such as Gaiden and the Gun Survivor games, which were action games instead of horror, the series only improves today. Every single version of Resident Evil 4 has recieved max ratings every time it was reviewed and the series as a whole only continues to improve. |

ok i skipped some of those posts.. most.. ok? anyway i say Duke Nukem 3D is a classic (think the 3D is in there, its the first one that isnt a side scroller... i think) cause it started alot, and its fun as hell (for me atleast) its got some sentimental value for me cause i used to play it with my dad as a kid.. then a few years back i bought it for my mac.. theres a few upsides to haveing an oldish mac. Anyways.. i like the enemy/monster/alliens and the models for them, the main character is fun, the weapons are good.. some good levels too. to afraid to break some "laws" and it went into a law suit thing (i think) for that awsome part of having the dead doom guy frozen in the grab neck part, and the line "that is one doomed space marine" or something like that. I realy liked the game, i dont know how many of you played it, but i think its a good classic. and it was remade for the PS1 but i could find the button to use a health pack (which is why i bought the mac one) so yea.. thats my contribution. edit: also the weapons were pretty kickass.. aside from the normal pistol and shotgun or w.e there was that nifty shrink ray (whats more fun then shrinking an enemy and then stepping on them?) and the great freaze ray, as well as an expansion with a gun that makes people grow untill they blow. some cool weapons.. so yea.. thats the edit. |

Garaa...Duke Nukem isn't really a classic. Nor was it the first non side scrolling Shooter. The FIRST FPS shooter game(If I recall correctly) was Castle Wolfstein. Me personally I think a classic=Soul Reaver(Dreamcast). Yes, DreamCast. A system literally able to match PS2 in all functions if you modified it. It couldn't go as far as playing the really new and high-tech games like FFXII but it could easily handle Online Play games, FFX-2, Xenosaga I, and such. Oh right...Classic GAMES not systems... I dunno I've kinda just grown attached to Soul Reaver and I would consider it classic. It was the real turning point in the Legacy of Kain series. Where players actually felt In Character. I consider it a classic becuase of how the player went through the same emotions, confusion, and very much understood the main character. Raziel's thoughts were commonly that of the player. It was a perfect symphony of the playing and the played. Thats the main thing about it. Along with the extremely Gothic and yet...somewhat upbeat scenery in the first Soul Reaver. It saddens me to know that the girl who writes the Soul Reaver series quit working on it for now atleast. I hate the cliff hangers each bloody game gives. Especially Legacy of Kain: Defiance purely becuase it's one of those endings that you could imagine them NOT continuing off of... |

What was so idiotic about my post? You said
In my honest opinion, Super Mario RPG is and always will be my favorite game. How is "Super Mario RPG easily." considered an idiotic post? As for Tenchu, I played Wrath of Heaven for the PS2, and I didn't like it all too much. There was just something about it that made me not want to play it longer than a couple hours before never playing it again. I can't really explain why though. Super Mario RPG was a classic in my mind because I have the most awesome memories playing it, hanging out with my sisters when I was younger (Which was a good memory for me, because I rarely see my sisters anymore.) and playing Super Mario RPG. Classic? Maybe not in your mind. But in mine, I feel that it is an instant classic. Mario Kart, I also had alot of good memories playing that on the SNES. It was the only video game other than Sim City that she would actually play with me. I also used to play that game alot with my sisters, so it also has some sentimental value, though not as much as SMRPG. Starcraft, also, is another classic I would think of. It's a very unique game, and it is still played constantly to this day. I don't really have much more of an explanation. |

Well I meant cause you just said the game. You had to expand on the game to show the good points of it. Wrath of Heaven is a good game because of the variety of characters and missions in multiplayer and the 3 different long story modes. Also, Tenchu has a great assortment of bosses in Wrath of Heaven and especially Fatal Shadows which relied more on abilities then items. |

Uguu...Portal? Btw Haku, Remind me: Fatal Shadows is the DS game, right? Edit: I change my vote becuase my memory is starting to work again- Raphsody - A Musical Adventure for Playstation is by far my most favorite game and a Classic for me if you want to go by Cormag's route becuase of how much I play it. But I fear...Neither Super Mario RPG nor Raphsody are Classics. But for that matter, neither is Tenchu or Soul Reaver. Thus far the only classic listed in this entire topic is by the person in the forums with a speech tag to match the dub kenshin, Huspa. And that is: Megaman. |
