So last night my girlfriend and I decided to go see a movie. After debating what all was out, we decided to go with 300, and I gotta say I'm glad we did. Here's the basic low-down. Leonidus, the King of Sparta, faces a life changing dilemma. The forces of the Persian Empire are decending upon his homeland, and Leonidus is determined not to let them through. However, a time of festival is about to arrive in Greece, a time that forbids any army from marching into battle. Leonidus is faced with a life changing dilemma...does he obey the laws he has sworn to uphold, or does he break them as a free man and fight the Persians that decend upon his land? All in all, 300 was definitely a great movie. The story intertwined with the action much better then 90% of the action films out there, and surprisingly enough the story also has quite a bit of depth to it as well. Apart from being an entertaining gore-fest, 300 also gives one of the best possible looks into the sheer brutality of war, and the film ends up becoming very moving at certain points. The only issue is the clothing...or lack thereof. All the Spartans are very...well...scantily clad, and that might prove to be a bit discomforting for some, but if you can get past that then I can almost guarantee you'll like the movie. In terms of a grade I'd give 300 a 10/10. I saw no holes in the movies plot, and there was not a single point in which something seemed too far drawn out in the movie. I would reccomend this for any Frank Miller fan, or any fan of a good action movie period. |

I can not tell, is it just me or do we all look just like Adolph fucking Hitler with this swoopy emo-boy dreamy haircut dangling in our faces, making us all indescribably indistinguishable from each other; or maybe I'm just another megalomaniac? | |

I completly agree, not only did it involve a lot of ACTUALY action but the character plot and story line was actually NOTICEABLE unlike some of the human movies i've seen. i'd give it a 10/10 as well! |

The Immortals are not ninjas. They had masks that looked Japanese in their style because the Persian Empire spread across most of asia. In fact, I'd say that the Immortals fought more like the Chinese then the Japanese. |

if they go into greek wars they could make a lot of good movies, troy not so good but there is a lot of potential in gore movies. |

Eh, for me this was the only greek/roman war story I ever really liked. Troy was alright, Gladiator was so so, but this was the only one I really thoroughly enjoyed. This is mainly because of the fact that I'm not a big fan of the greek/roman stories and the Olympian pantheon (Zeus, Athena, Ares, Hades, etc.). I'd actually much prefer to see some really good stories/movies based around Egyptian mythology, and The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and Scorpion King don't count because they're not good (those idiots who made the movie actually made Anubis the villanous Egyptian god when it's actually Osiris' twin brother, Set). |
